Leach beds or leach fields are used in septic tank installation but they are also used to collect water from drains when there is no where else for it to drain to. From here the water can disperse and slowly drain into the ground, away from your home.

The image above is the inside of a drain filled with roots. This is most common in clay tiles that don't seal together, however it can also happen in corrugated and pvc systems if the joints are not glued. Once the roots get too big they will break the pipe leading to expensive repairs. The same thing can happen if a pipe is clogged and water freezes in the pipe. Hydro jetting can cut through clogs and even tree roots.  We recommend hydro jetting your sewer lines every fall to prevent roots and clogs for retaining water through the winter.
